Welcome to Miami-Dade County Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) Website

With over 2.5 million residents, Miami-Dade is the most populated county in Florida. It has over 2700 signalized intersections and mid-block crossings, a figure that is increasing by dozens every year and that represents nearly 1% of all signalizations in the United States.

Keeping these signals operating and maintained properly is the responsibility of the Miami-Dade Public Works, Traffic Signals and Signs Division. Approximately seventy (70) Electrical Technicians, System Operators, Traffic Operation Engineers, and managers work full-time to ensure the signals are timed and operating optimally to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently on the arterials of Miami-Dade County.

The County's new Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) is a state-of-the-art, distributed traffic signal monitor and control system that is the most important tool at the staff's disposal to accomplish that goal. The ATMS helps to assure that optimum traffic signal operations are in place at all locations and all times-of-day. It also monitors the performance of the signals and automatically notifies appropriate staff when a traffic signal malfunctions, enabling staff to respond with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
